Does the soul or the flesh govern our lives? When a well-known translator, at the peak of her powers, learns that she has been diagnosed with a fatal disease, not only she but also her entire family will have to answer this question. The illness changes the course of time, revealing the true characters of those involved, as personal suffering collides with the chilling routine of medical therapy in all its monstrous details. And somewhere outside, people continue to laugh, drink, and sing, as if it will never happen to them tomorrow. In the battle for life and the journey toward death, the flesh always turns out to be the ultimate victor.
